Abstract for "Rethinking the Dichotomy Between Just War and Holy War in the Christian and Islamic Traditions."
In this paper, I will illustrate that our understanding of a “holy war” is fundamentally biased towards the specific historical experience of Christians. I believe we should redefine the parameters for what constitutes a holy or just war—or perhaps even remove the division altogether—as it exists solely to further distance Christianity from its tormented past and present other traditions as “less civilized" or "less developed” when viewed alongside it. A failure to do so would only further entrench the hypocrisy of the tradition.
